The weekend after my birthday, I drove down to Miami to celebrate with the fam. We checked in at the Residence Inn Miami Sunny Isles Beach for 2 days of fun in the sun and it was the perfect way to celebrate another year!
Before I get into the trip, I HAVE to say that the team at the Residence Inn Miami Sunny Isles Beach is SO sweet! They knew it was my birthday and they left me a special little surprise in the room! Balloons, prosecco, a little bear with a nailpolish and a card signed by everyone. THE SWEETEST!!
As far as staycations go, I love Sunny Isles Beach because it really does feel like getting away from Miami. I love being so close to Aventura Mall and it’s a lot more relaxed and less intense than South Beach. (Plus it’s not so “scene-y”.
I’m a major fan of the Residence Inn brand hotels… I love having a full kitchen, plenty of space, and still have all the amenities that you expect from the Marriott brands. Notably, an amazing pool, a delicious free breakfast spread and easy access to the beach.
My favorite thing about the hotel is definitely the GORGEOUS rooftop pool area. It reminds me a lot of the AC Miami Beach, with a beautiful infinity pool, roomy cabanas to lounge in, cocktails, food, music. (My sister was obsessed with whatever station/playlist they were playing… it was reggae versions of pop songs, which felt very vacay-appropriate.) It felt so nice to disconnect, read, lounge, relax. We didn’t leave the pool area the whole day… except to briefly visit the beach. After an hour or so, we headed back to the pool because I just liked it way better poolside! (I’m usually #teambeach but it was just breezier, cooler, more relaxing by the pool. Plus, we could order food and drinks, easy access to the restroom… overall, the pool was a much better choice!) I even took a nap in our cabana… which is something I can never usually do, but I guess I was just so chill, it was fine!) We ordered salads poolside and the lunch menu was pretty tempting! So many good options.
At night, we grabbed dinner and then headed back to the room. (I ordered the Margherita pizza!) My mom had picked up a cake at the nearby Misha’s, which if you’re a Miamian, you know Misha’s is THE GO-TO for cakes. There’s a Misha’s in Aventura Mall a short drive away. My mom and sister snuck out to pick up a cake and we ate cake and binge watched A Million Little Things in the room. (The in-room Smart TVs let you steam Hulu, Netflix, Amazon, etc. which is pretty much my new favorite hotel amenity lately.)
The free breakfast is kiiind of amazing. Pretty much ALL the options and I fully appreciated the coffee situation– both iced and hot options, as well as flavored syrups.
