Peter Pilotto for Target: What I’m Buying

Since the words “Peter Pilotto for Target” were first whispered (in the midst of Phillip Lim for Target, no less!) I’ve been quietly excited. Well, maybe not so quietly. Like Emma Watson, Rihanna and Kate Bosworth, I’ve always been a huge fan of the brand. The Peter Pilotto aesthetic is one that is absolutely unique and special, defined by its use of kaleidoscopic, whimsical prints and  soft sculptural shapes. When I first heard the news that a Target collab was in their future, I was immediately excited and hopeful that designers Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos would follow the Phillip Lim for Target formula and create a line that was similar in aesthetic to the main line. Last night, Target released the full lookbook for the collection that hits stores February 9th and after greedily flipping through all the photos, I’ve already made my list of MUST HAVES. (Check out Refinery 29 for the full Peter Pilotto for Target lookbook!)

I’ll be honest, I was incredibly shocked when I first heard about this collab. Peter Pilotto is not for everyone… whilst fashionistas love the aesthetic, part of me wonders if “real” women (aka women NOT in the fashion industry) will get it. I suspect the line will do well in big metropolises and maybe flop in middle America. Peter Pilotto for Target will be available February 9th in-stores, online at Target.com, and on Net-a-Porter.

See my picks and let me know in the comments: what do you think of the collab? Are you shopping in store, online, or via Net-a-Porter? What pieces do you need? Do you think America will “get” it?
