How to Throw a Galentine’s Day Brunch

How to Throw a Galentine's Day Brunch

Time to round up your best girls and throw the brunch bash of your dreams! Galentine’s Day is here and honestly… I think I enjoy decorating for it even more than decorating for Christmas! (I know that sounds crazy, but I LOVE IT!)

I’ve mentioned in the past how much I love Valentine’s Day, and how because my mom made it so special for us growing up, I never really assigned it a “romantic” association. I’m really grateful to her for that! I think a lot of single gals feel sad around V-Day… and with good reason. If you’re not feeling 100% happy with your current romantic situation, seeing everyone’s lovey-dovey celebrations can really highlight that insecurity and make you feel alone. I think that the rising popularity of Galentine’s Day has really been a blessing to many gals in their seasons of singleness. I know a few girls and guys who are single and will often use this time to treat themselves and their friends to whatever they want. Whether it’s a girls’ or guys’ night out, or even get them a meaningful gift, for example, a personalized Spotify glass plaque (or Spotify Glas Plaketten) that plays their favorite songs. It’s something that is becoming more and more popular over the years and shifting the focus of the holiday to any relationship in general, not just romantic ones.

The funny thing is– my very best Valentine’s Days were all ones I spent with my gal pals. Maybe it’s because I hate the idea of a boy doing something for me because he felt like he had to… and the fact that I TRULY HATE CLICHES. (NO RED ROSES FOR THIS GIRL!) But my favorite Valentine memories are truly GALENTINE memories.

Every year Galentine’s Day becomes more and more a thing and I am HERE FOR IT.

This year, I really wanted to gather my besties together for an afternoon of fun, food and (of course) mimosas. My friends at Common Assembly hooked us up with the perfect outfits to celebrate our friendship.

Tips for the Perfect Galentine’s Day Brunch

Galentine's Day mimosa bar

Curate a cute mimosa bar

Putting together a mimosa bar is insanely easy. Just pick up some orange juice and a couple of bottles of prosecco/champagne/sparkling anything and cut up some berries.

I also always add a festive banner and my trusty letterboard.

Having a bar cart is truly a game-changer for this! I change up my bar cart decor pretty often throughout the year.

Have some heart-shaped treats / cute snacks / festive charcuterie boards on hand

I was so excited about my Valentine’s day charcuterie board this year! I couldn’t believe how adorable the heart-shaped cheeses from Aldi were! I had to have them.

I did a sweet charcuterie board with white and pink chocolate covered pretzels, berries, conversation hearts, truffles, and a delicious brownie batter hummus dip.

For the savory charcuterie board, I made it “brunchy” with bagels, lox, assorted cream cheeses, crackers, proscuitto, bite-sized Genoa salami, and some cheeses.

Decorate with beautiful blooms

I love flowers and typically pick up fresh flowers for arrangements. The bummer with that is they always end up dying. This time, I decided to do a box of preserved roses from The Royal Roses instead AND I AM OBSESSED. They looked so glam on the table and got TONS of compliments. Plus, they’ll last for years afterwards! (I’ve already moved them into my bedroom and they’re the perfect finishing touch to my nightstand.)

I went with the medium box of the ivory white roses from The Royal Roses. (They even calligraphied the side with my name!)

The Royal Roses offers tons of other options… lots of colors, sizes and styles. I also love the pink roses and the Luxury Acrylic Collection!

How to Throw a Galentine's Day Brunch - Valentine's Day decorations

Pick up some festive Valentine’s Day decorations

The only thing that cheers me up after taking down the Christmas decorations after the new year is the fact that now I can decorate for VALENTINE’S DAY. As weird as it sounds, I love decorating for Valentine’s Day… lately, brands are killing it with cute V-day decor.

I get it– decking out your house for Valentine’s isn’t necessarily something everyone does. If you’re planning on hosting a Galentine’s Day party though, it’s definitely a must-do! It can be as simple as picking up some cheap art, swapping out your florals, or adding a cute garland.

There’s also so much super-cute PARTY decor! I ordered basically everything from Amazon. My heart banner was picked up last year at Target (they brought it back this year in a slightly different color) and my artwork was from Hobby Lobby/printables I made myself on Canva and put into cheap Dollar Tree frames!

LED Pillar candles are my new obsession. I have them EVERYWHERE. I ordered the remote-controlled ones and they just make everything feel so cozy! Ordered them on Amazon, as well as these glam candle holders!

Set up cute photo spots

All my friends love taking pics and honestly… I love documenting time with my gal pals. I’m trying to make PRINTING these pics a priority.

When I host at home, I always try to set up cute photo spots. Balloons, foil curtains, etc. I picked up all that cute decor from Amazon for super cheap!

Tips for throwing Galentine's Brunch

Dress festively

My last Galentine’s Day party was a PJ party but this year I wanted to go full glam! We did pretty dresses sent over by my friends at Common Assembly… a brand I truly love. (You may remember my NYE dress! It was from Common Assembly and I am still obsessed with it.)

Common Assembly was the perfect brand to dress my besties for Galentine’s Day– their mission is focused on kindness, empowerment for women, and sustainability. (Plus, everything is super affordable!) Even though all my friends have wildly different styles, there was something for everyone’s taste and we all looked SO chic at our brunch soiree.

My red pom-pom dress was so dreamy and perfect for Valentine’s Day!

I added some fun sparkly hair clips I ordered from Amazon and these heart earrings from Sugarfix by Baublebar that I picked up on a Target run!

Curate the perfect playlist

Whether it’s throwback jams, bright pop, or fun dance music, the playlist definitely sets the tone! Either build your own or pop on a pre-made playlist from Spotify or Apple Music.

When all else fails– go with some classic Britney or some Lizzo. No one will complain haha!

At the end of the day what makes your Galentine’s Day party perfect is the guest list. Ultimately, enjoying time with your gals is the goal and just being together will be enough. Don’t fret over the music, the food, the decor. What you’ll remember from the day is spending time with the girls you love most.
