I’m sure many of you have noticed that even after two years in Savannah, I have NEVER shared my bedroom. The truth is– it isn’t really done. I’ve been slowly accumulating decor pieces and I’m ALMOST all the way there! While it still isn’t 100% done… I’m happy to report that it’s currently about 95% done, thanks to a major upgrade last week by Desenio in the form of the most BEAUTIFUL bedroom gallery wall. (All I need now is a dresser!)

For a while now I’ve been thinking that what I really need is artwork to warm up the room. A few well-curated pieces make such a huge difference when it comes to infusing a space with personality. When it came down to it, though… I felt insanely overwhelmed by the prospect of choosing pieces! Then one day I was browsing Instagram and came across Desenio.

If you’re not familiar– Desenio is an one-stop online destination for art prints and assorted hanging options including frames, clips and more. Desenio makes it super easy to coordinate pieces that work together for your space and even though there are tons of options, the site is so well organized and easy to navigate that it makes the whole process as pain-free as possible.

Also– can we take a second to acknowledge that I DID THIS MYSELF? I HUNG THIS GALLERY WALL ALL BY MYSELF. I AM AN INDEPENDENT WOMAN WHO DOES NOT NEED A MAN!

So, how did I do it??

Choose a color scheme and vibe

I opted for feminine, blush-toned pieces that I loved. I chose a mix of abstract pieces, sketches and watercolors that looked good together. I wanted it to be chic and cool. but also personal. I love that you can search by color, you can browse prints by type and vibe, etc.

Choose a layout and plan sizes

I perused the suggested layout ideas for inspiration and chose one of the medium gallery wall layout options. It really helped me plan sizes and placement! I ended up screenshotting the layout I liked and then screenshotting the art I was interested in and playing with the layout in Canva to curate the assortment of pieces and layout that I felt worked the best together.

There are also a ton of pre-curated gallery walls that you can just go ahead and order. (SO easy!)

Curate pieces that you feel personally connected to

One of my favorite prints is the sketch of Grand Central Station. I lived in New York for 7 years and obviously the city has a special place in my heart. Choose prints that reference people, places, or things that have meaning to you.

Decide on frames and hanging style

I decided to go for white frames! Desenio has a variety of colors and material options. You can even do clips instead! Framing can be a pricey part of putting together a gallery wall. I did some research and found that ordering the frames through Desenio was the most affordable option, plus it guaranteed that all of my frames went together and that the art would fit inside perfectly!

Hanging Tips

First of all– use the inserts to plan the layout and spacing. Make sure you account for the frames. Visualizing the pieces on the wall before doing any of the mounting really helped!

At first I was going to use Command hooks, but at the end I just used nails in the wall! Easy, efficient, to the point. The frames are super lightweight, so hanging the art was a breeze!

I am totally in love with the final product! It turned out even better than I imagined and it added a warmth to the room that I hadn’t even realized was lacking.
