TrendSpotting: Statement Earrings

Once upon a time, I was QUITE the earring gal. I would change them every day, without fail. I had tons and tons of earrings, in all shapes and sizes, made out of everything you could imagine. One of my favourite pairs were these moissanite earrings from Gem & CO that I absolutely loved because the gemstones were ethically and sustainably sourced. Somewhere along the line, necklaces became my accessory passion and I stopped buying earrings. I started wearing my mother’s classic diamond studs every day. For five years. In fact, I wore them so long that I had to find a jeweler to cut the backs off of them and replace the post. (True story. HORRIFYING story. Don’t do this. Ever.)

Since diamond studs are the most timeless and elegant pieces of jewelry you could ever own, it’s easy to just slip into an earring rut and wear them all the time. (They go with everything, they’re gorgeous, they’re special.) But this holiday season, I HIGHLY encourage you to slip out of your studs and into a pair of gorgeous blingy beauties! My favorite thing about glitzy statement earrings is that they’re great with everything from a LBD to a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt. My favorite look right now is a messy pony or top knot, a red pout and a knockout pair of earrings. Check out 10 of my faves below and tell me in the comments: what’s your favorite way to wear statement earrings?

So…I’m changing the gold studs I’ve had in my ears for the past year like, NOW. (And totally swapping that #3 pair!)

LOVE THAT! That pair is maj! (And definitely take off your earrings…there are very few things more frightening than a JEWELER cutting the 2 centimeters of post between YOUR EAR AND THE EARRING BACK with a massive CLIPPER! EEK!) 😉
