After catching a sneak peek at Elie Tahari for Kohl’s a few months back, I was really excited to check out the collection when it finally hit stores this weekend. When Kohl’s approached me and asked if I was interested in styling a couple of looks from the collection, I was even MORE excited. Elie Tahari is the fifth DesigNation collaboration; previous collections were designed by Catherine Malandrino, Peter Som, Narciso Rodriguez and Derek Lam. (NOT too shabby!) The collection was inspired by Tahari’s home of 40 years, New York City. (Not going to lie, it made me a LITTLE homesick!) The pieces are all very structured, polished and VERY New York; a lot of blacks, neutrals, a variety of luxe textures. I was a little bit disappointed that some of my favorite pieces were online only, or not available at any of my local stores, so make sure you check the web.
I’ll be posting two looks this week (maybe even 3!) that I put together from the collection. The first, is this great, layered mixed media layered top. It’s very modern and fresh. The sleeves and bodice are a very soft cotton with a chiffon overlay that gives it a cropped effect. (PERFECT for fall!) I love that it’s the LOOK of a crop top, without actually BEING a crop top. (A great way for my friends up north to continue the crop trend all the way through winter, without sacrificing comfort.) I paired it with a patterned knit pencil skirt, a crossbody and my fave pair of peep toe booties. I was going to throw on the suede moto jacket, but truth be told, it’s MIAMI, 80 degrees, and I preferred the look without it. BTW: Great news- Elie Tahari for Kohl’s is currently on sale! You can shop the collection at even BETTER prices! Check out the look below, peek at the collection, and let me know in the comments: what do you think?

I can’t wait to go see this collection in person! I love how structured some pieces are, and the graphic details on others. I am really excited to buy some items, you look great in this one!

I really like what I’ve seen of the collection so far. Also this is a great outfit and pretty much what I wear for fall: black & grey.
