Necklace Layering 101

Nothing completes an outfit like a great necklace, which is why you might want to take a look at something like a name necklace, which can be an amazing custom item to have to show your affection for someone. These days, I constantly find myself torn between two schools of thought; I either want to throw on a glamorous, glittery statement necklace, or I want to keep it simple and layer a few personal pieces with my look. Some days it’s a real battle of the wills! But more often than not, simplicity has won out, (SHOCKER!) and I’ve opted to pair together a few of my favourite personal necklaces together. I just think layering a few of your favourite necklaces is so cute. It completely changes the look of any outfit. Imagine pairing a locket Necklace with a choker. That would look so cool. A few people have mentioned that they’re not sure exactly how to go about choosing pieces to layer, so I’ve compiled a very short little list of the do’s and don’ts of necklace layering. Check it out and tell me: what do you think is important when necklace layering?

I’m always scared I’ll end up looking tacky, but I’ve seen some really nice looking layered necklaces lately, and what you’ve done looks really fresh and clean–not too overdone. I like it! I also always wondered about mixing metals. The next time I try layering, I’m not going to worry too much about how closely they match.

Thanks, Chelsea! It’s really something you have to eyeball when you’re trying to choose pieces to layer together. Don’t worry too much when mixing metals, but try to choose pieces that make sense together; make sure they have the same vibe, the same personality. For example, don’t pair something really antique-y looking with something very modern and graphic. It’ll make it look more cohesive! Let me know how layering works out for you, would love to see 🙂

Thanks Lacee! I think a lot of people are scared of it, but if done right, it’s really so fresh and modern! Glad you’re on board 🙂
