My name is Stephanie Pernas, and I’m a fashion, beauty, and travel blogger who splits time between Miami, FL and Savannah, GA. I’m passionate about faith, affordable style, iced coffee and the perfect cat-eye, A Sparkle Factor is where I share my favorite fashion, beauty and lifestyle inspirations and ideas. This blog is for you– my BFF, a gal who loves shopping, wine, and a good book.
Why & How I Started Blogging
I’ve always loved fashion. At 2 years old, I’d pull things I liked off of racks at the store into my stroller. (This happened. Bible. Ask my mom.) In 3rd grade, I’d watch Fashion File on E! with Tim Blanks and Style with Elsa Klensch on CNN. (Don’t even ask.) I was convinced that i was the only 8-year-old in the world who knew about Karl Lagerfeld and how he completely revitalized the House of Chanel. (Delusional.)
As a teenager and then adult, magazines were my passion. After interning at Glamour, I knew the world of fashion editorial was my calling. I moved to NYC after graduating from FSU and never looked back. After 5 years in New York and jobs at Glamour, Women’s Health, and Teen Vogue, things changed.
When my dad suddenly passed away in October of 2012, I left my dream job in the fashion department at Teen Vogue and moved back to my hometown of Miami, FL to help my mom with my younger sisters. (I’m the oldest of 4 girls!)
Moving home was HARD. I mean, the actual moving wasn’t too bad. My advice to anyone moving is to find a team of movers. Search “mover Winston Salem” or wherever you live to find a local team. But what I meant was that living with my fam after being away for 10 years was a tough transition. I had no idea what I was going to do for a job. Magazines were out. PR was never something I truly enjoyed. I had always toyed with the idea of blogging, and had even started a short-lived blog years ago that was a total fail. (Let’s not talk about that. It was embarrassing.) My family kept encouraging me to start my own business, and after sitting down to think about what that would look like and mean, I launched a personal styling business and fashion blog, A Sparkle Factor, on Thanksgiving Day, 2013. Now, in spring of 2019, I decided to take the leap and rebrand as StephaniePernas.com, something I’ve been thinking about doing for awhile.
So why do I blog? Simply put, I’m passionate about a lot of things. Style. Jesus. Shopping, Beauty. Books. TV. Movies. Life. And obviously… sparkles. I wanted to connect with other like-minded girls who love all those things too, and wanted to build an online community of gal pals. My ultimate hope? To become your stylish BFF; your go-to gal for all things style, beauty and more.
My Personal Style
My personal style has definitely undergone a sort of change lately. These days I’m all about sleek, chic, sexy looks. Polished and cool, totally trendy with unexpected touches.
Another BIG defining characteristic of my personal style is affordability. I’ve always been inspired by how “real” girls dress. While I can appreciate a good couture moment as much as the next fashionista, my true passion lies in affordable style. There’s just something that really EXCITES me about finding a great deal, or scoring a great piece from a retailer that most of the fashion community wouldn’t shop at. (Nothing makes me more excited than proclaiming that something I’m wearing is from TJ Maxx or Target!)
It doesn’t take millions or even hundreds of dollars to look amazing, put together and stylish. ANYONE can be stylish with a million dollars. Someone with true style can make it work on a hundred. (Or under!) Highlighting attainable style for the everygirl- that’s what I aim to do.
