I don’t know about for you, but this Monday feels kind of weird, doesn’t it? Maybe because so many of you babes are off work for a long weekend, but it sort of feels like an off day… even though for me, it’s not. Since my sisters have been home for the summer it’s felt sort of weird, though. I’m always the only one ever working lol! It does feel a little distracting to have everyone around. I try to just lock myself away and focus on getting work done, but that’s obviously easier said than done!
Anyway, the last few days I’ve been feeling major 4th of July vibes and find myself dressing up in red, white and blue subconsciously. I’ve been gravitating towards red gingham and classic denim and white with pops of red. This little ruffle sleeve dress caught my eye online and while I was initially unsure of the silhouette, I went for it anyway. A babydoll style dress isn’t always the most flattering and I was a tad nervous about the length. It was $17 so I figured, why not?! The dress is more of a cotton blend and doesn’t feel as polyester-y as some of the pieces from Shein. (Not that I’m mad at that, I don’t typically mind. With the right washing/prep, the polyester blends soften and feel fine. Should I do a post on that? Let me know.) The product description lists the color of this dress as “orange” which I find weird, because it’s definitely a red. A coral-y red, but still a red. For sizing info, I am 5’2 and wearing a size medium. As always, I recommend checking out the size guide… peek at the measurements to make sure that you choose the right size for yourself. I always, always do this and 9 out of 10 times, it saves me from making a mistake! (The 1 out of 10 where it doesn’t, it’s because I have delusions about my measurements and don’t actually check them on my body lol!)
I really like the ruffle sleeve and it’s super comfortable and easy. I’m really glad I picked this up! I think I’ll probably wear it tomorrow too, let’s be honest here.
I have a cousin in the Navy and he was in town over the weekend for a short leave. My mom hosted a dinner at our house on Friday night for the fam and gave it a little July 4th theme. Partly since he’s in the military, partly because we figured why not celebrate a little early? I happened to be wearing this dress, so I was perfectly dressed to theme lol!
I’m loving red gingham for summer. Gingham in general, but red gingham in particular! Stay tuned because I have, like, a million cute gingham outfits coming down the pipeline in the next couple of weeks!
