OK, real talk. Are you sick of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale yet? I know so many girls are… I know I’M sick of seeing it in my feed! Some of my fellow blogger babes have really taken things overboard this year lol. I love Anniversary but there’s no way I am shooting myself in a coat right now. The thing is, I think it’s a really great sale and the perfect time to stock up on your fall basics. What other store marks down merch when it hits the floor for the first time? I love seeing the trends we’re going to be wearing and loving next season. Now, I get it. It’s July. Here in Miami it is 100 degrees and the last thing I want to do is wear a leather jacket or an over the knee boot. But by the time we’re ready, it’s going to be too late and all the fall merch will be full price again. So, let’s bite the bullet and evaluate the best of what’s available, shall we?
To refresh your memory, early access has started for Nordstrom card holders. You can only shop the sale right now if you have a Nordstrom card. Want to shop the sale but don’t have a card? Never fear, the sale opens to the public on THURSDAY. So make your list now! Don’t worry about the things that are out of stock, Nordstrom will restock and refresh the assortment on the first day of public access.

I did want to try on piece in-store… and since I’m in Miami, we don’t really get ALL the best pieces… it’s like an edit. So, I went through and picked out my favorite pieces available here in my area. We didn’t get some of the best pieces, sadly, so make sure you check out my comprehensive post from the first day of the sale. I popped by the store and picked out what I found to be the best pieces at my local store. I went for basics and everyday pieces that I know I’ll get a lot of use of. Lush Raw Edge Side Slit Tee

I really liked this tee. It was soft and had a flattering cut. I don’t typically love side slit things, because they tuck weird, but I didn’t run into that problem with this tee. Great basic, everyday piece.

BP Plaid Cotton Blend Tunic

Sizing: runs on the bigger side, but you want an oversized fit anyway. I am wearing a size small
I love this plaid button down! It has a really nice drape and is oversized while still having a flattering fit. They only had the black and white color at my store, but I really like the red cordovan or blue colors. This top would pair great with jeans, leather leggings, jean shorts… basically anything in your closet. This basic is a must.

I didn’t feel this to be the most flattering top on me, but I did like it. It’s a good go-with-anything top. I like the cold shoulder and the fold over hem gave it a little something extra. Great top to pair with jeans or leather skinnies.

This is my favorite top from the sale. I initially liked it when I saw it online, but I LOVED it when I tried it on! The fit was super flattering and I just love the dot print. The ruffle bell sleeve gave me ALL the feels. This is such a cute work top! This lightweight top is just so pretty… I’d pair it with my favorite jeans or maybe leather shorts or a denim skirt. I also really liked all the other colors it comes in! DEFINITELY recommend this piece.

If you’re looking for a basic, everyday long sleeve tee, this BP pocket tee is a good choice. I don’t think I’d pay $29 for it, because honestly, it’s just a long sleeve tee, nothing wild. If you really needed a long sleeve tee and wanted a good quality one, I’d recommend getting it during the sale at a discount, but I think your money is better spent elsewhere if you’re on a tight budget and only picking up a few things from the sale.

I really like the side slit on this tank. This flowy tank makes a great layering piece and would be really cute paired with jeans and leather leggings. It’s a great basic… I think I’d go for the black before this moonstruck color. Super soft, super comfortable.

I love this sweater. Super soft and cozy. I would totally go for the black, gray and cream colors for cozy everyday basics. It would pair well with jeans, denim cutoffs, skirts, shorts… everything. This is a great buy. Still lightweight, this sweater would make a great layering piece for the colder months. I tried both the small and medium on and the small fit better. The arms on the medium were really long and bunchy on me.

This sweater was tiny, I went for a large for a looser fit. Anything smaller seemed skin tight. I like the cold shoulder and the ruffle details! Such a cute and different piece for the fall, paired with a cute skirt or distressed denim. I tried on this lavender pink, but I think the gray is a cute option as well. (I feel the ruffle gets kind of lost on the black)

Topshop Bell Sleeve Lattice Back Sweater

I don’t know why I’m so dumb and didn’t take a picture of the really cute lattice back! If you click on the link and check it on the Nordstrom website, you can see a shot of the back. I was apparently way more intrigued by the amazing bell sleeve. This cozy sweater will be perfect with jeans or some denim cutoffs. Pair it with your favorite skirt for a little bit of a vintage vibe. The mustard is a really pretty color but I tend to gravitate more towards the cream color.

I’m a sucker for a utility jacket… definitely one of my go-to fall pieces. I think a good utility jacket is a fall wardrobe staple that EVERY girl needs. It’s the perfect lightweight third piece to bring your look together. Whether it’s a finishing touch to a white tee and jeans, or thrown on over leggings to make you look at least SLIGHTLY put together, I’m a major fan. I really liked this BP anorak and you can’t beat the price! $45.90?? Amazing. The quality is really good and I liked the slightly oversized fit. The color looks more brown online than it does in person. It’s definitely a true olive.

Topshop Rosemary Leather Biker Jacket

If I had to choose one item to be my #1 fall wardrobe staple, I’d easily say a leather moto jacket. If you splurge on only one item a year, I’d say that a great quality leather jacket is a good investment. As this is Miami, there weren’t a ton of them in stock at my local store but I did spot this Topshop jacket straightaway. While trying it on, I did think it had a really nice fit and was a great deal. ($249 for a genuine leather jacket? A total steal.) On the other hand, I actually prefer some of the more affordable vegan leather options, like this BLANKNYC jacket for only $64.90. So is this jacket worth the splurge? Depends on what you’re looking for. If you want a real 100% leather jacket, then yes, it’s an AMAZING deal. If you’re fine with a high-quality vegan leather option (like I am) opt for one of the more affordable options.

BLANKNYC Suede Moto Jacket

This jacket is EVERYTHING. The color is gorgeous, the quality is outstanding, and the fit is perfect. It just looks super luxe and is such a great piece. My local store only carried the cognac color, but the dark grey is a great shade as well. (Or the red leather if you’re feeling Emma Swan Once Upon a Time vibes haha!) Last year, BLANKNYC debuted a similar style that was all the rage all fall and winter long. Every blogger basically rocked the jacket, and for some reason, this year, they’re all saying “it’s back!” It’s not back. This style is slightly different than last year’s; mainly, it’s missing the belt. (Last year’s version is actually still available at full price here.) I’d sacrifice the belt to save $60, tbh.

This lightweight cardigan is perfect for the Miami fall/winter season. I always carry a cardigan with me year round, because while it’s sweltering outside, it’s always freezing inside. I really like the black, gray and cognac colors… all super practical and a great price. Really high quality and I liked the rib knit.

Sizing: Run big. I’m wearing a 28 and am like… not at my usual weight right now lol.
These black ripped high waist skinnies are an amazing price and really great for fall. Super flattering fit and look cute with basically everything, as you can see by the fact that I wore them with half the tops I tried on. I really like the raw hem and the fact that they seemed to minimize my thighs. Definitely pick these up.

OK, so these jeans have already sold out! Don’t fret, when Nordstrom opens the sale up for public access on Thursday, I’m sure they’ll restock the jeans, so keep an eye out. I love the distressing and the frayed hem! I wish they were shorter on me, since I’m 5’2 they weren’t as cropped as they should be. But I did have to try on a bigger size since I’m not really at my usual weight right now. I’d definitely recommend scooping these up. Since they’re sold out, the price isn’t listed anymore, but they WERE under $50! I’ll let you know when they come back.
Rebecca Minkoff Velvet Love Bag / Rebecca Minkoff Velvet MAC Bag
I love Rebecca Minkoff bags, they’re my favorite. Anniversary is a great time to score a good deal on a fall RM. I spotted these velvet pretties and just had to snap a quick pic! The Love bag is a great dupe for the Chanel Boy bag and this velvet version is just so gorgeous for fall. The classic MAC style is also a great and surprisingly roomy bag. (I always use mine when we go to Disney World!)
