Another week, another A-list awards show! I feel like every Monday lately my blog post is a red carpet roundup! No complaints here, there’s nothing I love more than a good old-fashioned red carpet critique.
I typically like to live-tweet the red carpet but this week, I was a little busy with other things and opted to skip the 2014 Grammy awards. After perusing the red carpet pics, I feel like a few girls really knocked it out of the park, some were lukewarm and a lot missed the mark. However, the misses? I’d never even HEARD of most of them! Because of that, I decided to just write up a short and sweet red carpet round up, only talking about the girls I absolutely loved and picking only one (very obvious) worst dressed. My absolute #1 BEST DRESSED is without a doubt…
Chrissy Teigen in Johanna Johnson. She looked absolutely STUNNING! The fit was impeccable, the style was gorgeous, and her hair and makeup were flawless. I think Chrissy Teigen is drop-dead gorgeous any day of the week, but this dress? A winner in my book!
Best Dressed Runners Up
Taylor Swift in Gucci – While I always expect Taylor to hit the red carpet in either something glittery or red, I loved this dress! As far as I’m concerned, she can do no wrong. Her stylist, Joseph Cassell, is absolutely fabulous and knows exactly what Taylor likes and looks good in. In a red carpet interview, Taylor likened this dress to chainmail, and I loved that about it! It’s a little bit tougher, a little bit edgier, while still keeping some sweetness about it.
Kacey Musgrove in Johanna Jonson – Johanna Johnson had a great night, dressing three women at the Grammy’s, including two of my picks for best dressed! Kacey looked gorgeous in this floaty, organza tiered confection. I loved the hint of sparkle and the color was really flattering on her skin tone.
Giuliana Rancic in Alex Perry – I confess, I always feel a little weird lumping in Giuliana with the pictures of the celebs attending the show. As she’s really there as a red carpet fashion commentator, it feels odd to include her, but I really loved this dress! It was fresh and different, the color was vibrant and the lace paneling felt really modern.
Beyonce in Michael Costello – All hail Queen Bey! Michael Costello won Project Runway, right? This dress is basically MADE for BEYONCE. It’s sexy, and fun, and elegant, and the back was KILLER! Absolutely loved the styling and her beauty look.
Worst Dressed
Without a doubt, worst dressed goes to…
Madonna in Ralph Lauren. I really… have no words for what this is. She was wearing a grill, this suit, the crazy hat, the cane… it was all around just BAD. She was the clear winner of worst dressed in my opinion! So many women do the tuxedo well. (Diane Keaton comes to mind!) Maybe if she had skipped the shirt and tie, hat, and cane, tailored the pant to a good length, and skipped the grill… .we would’ve been in business. But this just looks like a bad costume.
So that’s it! A short and sweet pick of best and worst. What do you think? Who was your favorite and least favorite?
