2015 Oscar Red Carpet Style Roundup

You may have noticed that I was suspiciously quiet last night on Twitter regarding the 2015 Oscar red carpet. I definitely caught a cold last week and spent all night in bed, peeking occasionally at Instagram with one eye to see what everyone was loving on the red carpet! My takeaway was that almost ALL of the ladies killed the game and looked fabulous.  I haven’t seen such a strong carpet in AWHILE! There weren’t even any looks I totally despised! Everyone did a great job, so in that spirit, I’m foregoing best/worst and just sharing my thoughts on some of my favorite looks. (Loving the positivity!) So let’s get to it…

Margot Robbie in Saint Laurent: Before even addressing the look she chose for the red carpet, I need to pause and say that Margot Robbie is just one of the most stunning women EVER. Last year, I was so excited to see what she was going to wear and was incredibly disappointed by the dark, goth look she opted for. This year, I was hoping she would pull out the stops and wow us, and she definitely did! The black Saint Laurent gown she chose was so beautiful and really channeled Old Hollywood, but in a totally modern way. Her beauty look was really fresh and the bright lip was a perfect pop of color. I loved that she went with that tassel necklace to really elevate the look.

Jamie Chung in Yanina Couture:  Jamie is one of my favorite street style stars and a total fashionista. I am always looking to her for fashionable inspiration and was really  excited to see her on the Oscar red carpet last night. I thought her beautiful, vintage-y princess dress was a gorgeous choice for the Oscars! I just generally love tulle, so this dress was definitely a homerun for me. The beading, the styling, I thought it was all just perfection. (And… this is probably the dress I would’ve worn myself on the red carpet!)

Emma Stone in Elie Saab: If you’re ever making a best dressed list, make sure to save a spot for Emma Stone. She consistently shows up, takes risks and gives us a great look to gab about the next day. The beaded Elie Saab she chose for last night’s Oscars is no exception. The shimmery green was perfect with her coloring and the dress was sexy while tasteful. I especially loved the very bare back and high slit.

Jennifer Lopez in Elie Saab:What a gorgeous princess moment for JLO! This ballgown was so stunning, a real show stopper. The color, the beadwork, everything was perfection. I loved her sleek hair and the pink, girly beauty look she went with. Great complements to a beautiful dress!

Rosamund Pike in Givenchy: As a nominee, you’re really expected to pull out all the stops and arrive in a major stunner. Rosamund has had some hits and misses as of late, but this look was a total HIT. The color was so vibrant and the lace texture/mesh paneling added really special design elements that made this dress so stunning to look at. The slit added a hint of drama and the dress could stand on its own; no accessories required. Doesn’t her body look AMAZING in this?? I can’t get over it. THIS WOMAN JUST HAD A BABY.

Chrissy Teigen in Zuhair Murad: Chrissy has long been my total girlcrush. I think she’s so hilarious and beautiful and just a great girl. In addition to that, she always turns up on the red carpet in something gorgeous. I absolutely loved this ice blue Zuhair Murad! The plunging neckline, the lace, the belt, the slit, the styling… I was a huge fan. The dark lip, wavy hair and earrings totally lend an air of Old Hollywood, but with a modern and sexy twist.

Reese Witherspoon in Tom Ford: As a nominee and a red carpet rockstar, I expected Reese to turn up in a look destined for the best dressed list. Really though, Tom Ford can do no wrong. I think the key to this dress was the simplistic styling and the impeccable fit. On another woman, I don’t know how much I would’ve loved the look, to be honest. It could’ve gone matronly, but Reese kept it youthful. I love love love the beauty styling.

Chloe Grace Moretz in Miu Miu: I’m always excited to check out what the next generation of fashionistas wear on the red carpet. I’ve always been a big fan of Chloe’s and love that she takes fashion risks while also keeping her look age appropriate. There are so many young actresses that can take style pointers from her! I loved this Miu Miu gown! It was fashionable and fun while also being young and pretty. I loved the pockets, the flowers, the silhouette… totally beautiful. Chloe was wearing $200,000 in Forevermark diamonds… 40 carats! How STUNNING was that ear cuff? I need it. (Anyone want to buy me a present???) The earcuff is 19.31 carats and set in 18k rosegold. LOVE.

Naomi Watts in Armani Prive: This look was really unexpected in my opinion. I absolutely love this dress! It’s SO cool. The bandeau, the texture and print, the styling. It was a real risk and just a modern, fun look for the evening.

Dakota Johnson in Saint Laurent: Dakota Johnson is really the girl of the moment right now, and this look was perfect. I loved the vibrant color of the dress, the red lip to match, and the styling of this look. The fit on the dress was impeccable! You definitely took notice of her in this amazing look. Plus. Let’s talk jewels. Dakota was wearing 100 carats and $2.2 million dollars worth of diamonds. YES.

Overall, I felt like all of the ladies did really well last night. It’s been a long time since I’ve been so overwhelmingly impressed by what I’ve seen on the red carpet. For this roundup, I decided to showcase only my absolute faves. So, what do you think? Tell me in the comments: Who was your favorite? Did I miss any?

LOL!! That was, like, the best moment of the Golden Globes! (And… aren’t they always?)

Jamie Chung, Rosamund Pike, Chrissy Teigen, and Naomi Watts were winners in my book. Although I was happy to see Elie Saab on the red carpet, I felt like Emma and Jennifer could have chose better gowns from him.

Really? Interesting! I loved their choices! But in my opinion… everything Elie Saab is amazing, choosing a dress must be impossibly hard!
